Documentary: Hila Kihimi
Translation: “But the weather”
Location: Avanersuaq, Northwest Greenland
In the Northernmost indigenous settlements on Earth, Greenland’s subsistence hunters face ever-tightening government restrictions on their way of life, creating a surprising tug-of-war between wildlife conservation and indigenous cultural heritage.
About: In a remote corner of Northern Greenland, the Inughuit people continue to survive using traditional hunting methods perfected over millennia. Today, this way of life is rapidly evolving as the ecosystem changes and the government intervenes.
This is the story, through the eyes of the hunters, of what happens when an indigenous culture’s sustainable way of living in harmony with nature collides with global conservation imperatives.
This film prompts globally relevant questions about how, in a changing world, we strike a balance between protecting endangered species while also preserving endangered traditions.

Documentary: Untitled
Location: West Kalimantan
About: In 2021 Ashlei of TracingThought Productions made a short film about a Dayak community living deep in the jungle of Western Borneo.
She was adopted into a tribe and saw the battles natives faced with palm oil tycoons firsthand.
But this story needs a bigger spotlight, therefore TracingThought Productions is working on a feature film. This feature-length documentary and photo series follows a five-year relationship with a very unique Dayak tribe and their fight to protect their land, traditions and rights to the forest.
